But wait – who IS Steve Schreiber?

I am many things to many people.  A father, a leader, a computer programmer, an Eagle Scout, a nerd, a cook, a joker, a thinker, an outdoorsman, a manager, and on my better days a good friend or role model.  Born and raised in Michigan, I see it as the best place to live – we get all four seasons, have plenty of fresh water and watersports all around us, and limited natural disasters. 😉

I’ve been a “computer guy” most of my life, starting very young on the very first computers thanks to my father being an electronics hobbyist.  He loved building things and figuring out how things worked, and luckily for me he was very articulate at building electronics from kits so he put together some of the first home computers himself – and they worked, which was rare.  I’ve seen a lot of technology come and go and with over 20 years in software development I’ve seen a lot of languages as well.

Outside of work I have a variety of interests and hobbies.  First, I try to make all the family time I can and love to support my children at whatever they’re doing.  I spend a lot of time outdoors camping, backpacking, canoeing and more.  The last few years I’ve taken up running, with my first 5k in 2015 and my first 10k and half marathon in 2017.  I also love woodworking, and every now and then will try my hand at building a project for a family member.

Nowadays I’m trying to find balance and happiness, and make time to tackle things I’ve always wanted to do.  I’ll try sharing some of that experience here.
